I create my glass beads using the ancient art of lampworking, sometimes called flameworking. This means that I melt the glass in a torch and manipulate it while it is molten. In ancient times, oil lamps were used, hence the term lampworking. All my beads go directly from my torch into my kiln, to be properly annealed. This process cools the beads very slowly and relieves any stress in the glass. To learn more about lampworking, visit The Glass Place.
My beads have been in many books and magazines, and I have written two books about lampworking- "Glass Beads: Tips, Tools and Techniques for Learning the Craft", and "Glass Bead Inspirations", both published by Stackpole Books.
I like the idea of someone finding one of my beads 100 years from now, feeling the energy that created it, and wondering about the artist who made it.
