The art of Paper Cutting or scissor cut (German).

This art form often has symmetry within the design. Common forms include silhouettes, valentines, and love letters. Scherenschnitte art is wonderful for framed Wedding Certificates. They make excellent unique wedding gifts.

Founded in Switzerland and Germany in the 16th century, Scherenschnitte was brought to Colonial America in the 18th century by immigrants who settled primarily in Pennsylvania.
